Extended Pool Closing

Beginning September 26th

To our valued members: Over the past 24 months, the Kroc Center has been actively planning major mechanical improvements in our Aquatics area. Early in 2020 and as an initial part of this plan, we replaced our outdated pool water heaters with equipment that is better able to keep up with the demands of our pools. As we move into the 4th calendar quarter of 2021, the 2nd part of this major project involves replacing the rooftop air conditioning equipment and inside ductwork that is responsible for maintaining air flow, temperature, and humidity levels in each area of the aquatic center.

Because of the complex nature of this work, we will be forced to close our aquatic center for an extended period of time, beginning at the end of the day on Saturday 9/25/21. We have coupled this closure with our annual pool maintenance – this includes significant repairs to the pool surfaces (our pools are now 11 years old), tile repairs throughout the space, and a full inspection and recommended repairs to our waterslide. We realize that this closure creates a significant inconvenience for those who use our pools but we are equally confident that this temporary inconvenience will result in significant environmental improvements in our aquatic center as we move into our 2nd decade of serving the North Philadelphia community.

For monthly members that wish to place their memberships in a temporary, inactive status, please contact our Member Services dept in writing prior to our scheduled 09/20/21 auto-draft and we will set up your account to skip the October, November, and December monthly payments (auto-draft will restart on 12/20/21 for January 2022). Annual members who wish to become temporarily inactive will receive a 3-month extension of their plans (beyond their currently scheduled expiration date).

We appreciate your patience and understanding with our desire to make these improvements in our aquatics space. If you have questions about this work or would like to discuss your membership plan options while this work is being completed, please feel free to contact Sales and Marketing Manager Bill Ruckh at (215) 558-1538 or by email at William.Ruckh@use.salvationarmy.org.
