Day Camp Coordinator

Schedule: Seasonal 40 hours, M-F (June 7 – August 13, 2021)

Position Description: Creative oversight and direction with every aspect of the daily Summer Day Camp program, as well as be involved with staff orientation and supervision. The Day Camp Coordinator will interact with parents and campers and must possess the ability and desire to work side-by-side with them for an exceptional experience of spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual enhancement while in our care. The Day Camp Coordinator will perform other duties as required.

Requirements: Completed Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in a related field focusing on child/youth development and education. At least two seasons of supervisory experience in directing similar programs (whether as a Counselor or Group Supervisor). Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. This role requires the ability to work and relate well with both staff and camper parents/guardians; must have a positive attitude toward helping and fostering children in their development. Ability to develop and maintain a directed schedule, along with the ability to lead a group of children and staff, both large and small groups. This position must be responsive, detail oriented, flexible, creative and have the ability to see projects through to completion. Flexibility! Enthusiasm! High energy! Maintain a standard of excellent and possess the ability to work well under supervision. Must foster a spirit of compassion and commitment to the children that participate in the Day Camp program. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must complete a medical form and have current CPR and First-aid certification by first day of work. Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of The Mission of The Salvation Army.

Day Camp Counselor

Schedule: Seasonal - 8:15AM - 4:45PM (June 14 – August 13, 2021) 40 hours, M-F

Position Description: The Day Camp Counselor will supervise the children assigned to their care and be a positive role model, Christian witness and always maintain a high degree of protective care for each child. The Day Camp Counselor will participate in all programmatic aspects associated with the Day Camp program assigned. The Day Camp Counselor will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Ability to work and relate well with staff and camper parents. The Day Camp Counselor will assist the Day Camp Coordinator with the day to day operation of the program, supervise children of the assigned group. When necessary the counselor may potentially be asked to supervise other groups by After School and Day Camp Manager or Day Camp Coordinator. Actively participate in all components of the Day Camp program, including but not limited to devotional programs, recreational programs, performing arts programs, swim activities (including getting into the pool), counselor choice activities, and other education programming. Promote positive interaction with campers and staff daily. Assume responsibility of meeting the needs of the campers throughout the day. Maintain a safe environment by enforcing the policies and procedures and reporting any problems to the Day Camp Coordinator/After School and Day Camp Manager. Respond positively and affirmatively to direction given by the After School and Day Camp Manager and Day Camp Coordinator. Respond to additional assignments/instructions as deemed appropriate for the effective overall ministry of the Summer Day Camp program. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Early Childhood Education Teacher

Schedule: Full-Time, Part-Time (20-29 hours per week) and Part-Time (under 20 hours per week)

Position Description: The Early Childhood Education Teacher (ECECT) will plan, implement, instruct and assess for the long-term success of the ECEC; will utilize the curriculum as a foundation for lesson planning and assure there is healthy and safe environment for the children and families served. The ECECT will engage in positive and professional parent/child/staff relationships. The ECECT will keep records and complete reports which ensure that standards of excellence are maintained. Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements: The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, school age care, child development or other child-related field; will consider individuals with an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education currently working towards a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of one year on the job training in providing a nurturing indoor/outdoor environment and meeting the child’s out of home needs. Candidate must have one plus years of experience under qualified supervision working as a teacher serving the ages and developmental abilities of the children in care. Candidate will be required to have a valid certificate in pediatric first aid, including CPR. Thorough knowledge of normal child development and early childhood education, as well as knowledge of indicators that a child is not developing typically. The ability to respond appropriately to children’s needs in addition to the ability to recognize signs of illness and safety/injury hazards and respond with prevention interventions. This position requires effective oral and written communication skills. Sound judgment and emotional maturity is requisite. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Must possess understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army and the RJKCCC.

Early Childhood Education Assistant

Schedule: Full Time

They will participate and maintain professional development and attend staff training. Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements: The successful candidate will possess a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent; an Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or comparable. A minimum of one year on-the-job training in providing a nurturing indoor/outdoor environment meeting the child’s out-of-home needs. One year (plus) of experience under qualified supervision working as a teacher serving the ages and developmental abilities of the children in care. Must possess a valid certificate in pediatric first aid, including CPR. Lifeguard

Schedule: Part-time, under 20 hours per week; must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Position Description: The Lifeguard assures the safe utilization of all aquatic areas by members and guests. Job responsibilities include: the supervision of member and guest use of the aquatics facility, participates in the daily maintenance and cleaning of pool areas, equipment related to pool use, and emergency equipment, instruct participants in swimming or other recreational activities and provide safety precaution information, inspect recreational equipment for safety hazards/damage/wear, rescue distressed persons using rescue techniques and equipment, contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury, complete and maintain records required for use of facility, emergency medical treatments performed, and other relevant incident information, and performs related duties as assigned. The use of superior customer service in providing oversight of these areas is required. Must be able to be flexible in support of the Kroc Center team in all areas of center operation, as needed and assigned.

Requirements: High school diploma or GED, or enrolled in a program designed to result in such achievement required. PA state lifeguard certification required. Prior work experience as a lifeguard in PA preferred. Current CPR/AED required. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English; proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Must have ability to work and relate well with people. Member Services Associate

Schedule: PT - Up to 19 hours weekly. Must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings as will be required in performance of duties or asrequested to support the ongoing operations of the Kroc Center.

Position Description: The Member Service Associate will provide the highest level of customer service to prospects, center members and guests related to facility and membership information, enrollment procedures, ongoing customer satisfaction and membership recruitment and retention.

Requirements: Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Sales and Marketing or related field preferred, with previous a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the sales field. Excellent sales, marketing, research and tracking skills required. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required. The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to scheduling appointments for prospects and the members. Must be able to read write and communicate in English; proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work and relate well with people. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Operations Ministry Assistant

Schedule: Full time

Position Description: The OMA will work in conjunction with the Operations Ministry Director (OMD) to provide support and oversight to all Operations departments and will work collaboratively with Kroc departments outside of Operations to assure the alignment of efforts in support of The Salvation Army mission and the Kroc Center vision. The OMA will assist in the development of programming and other services designed to enhance the Kroc member/guest experience, always ensuring that such services meet the financial needs of the center.   The OMA will play an active role in managing outside vendor agreements. The OMA will work with leaders and staff in the Human Resources, Education, Hospitality, and Congregational Life sections to align Kroc services that result in high customer satisfaction levels.  The OMA will assist the OMD in planning, organizing, and implementing operational procedures that maximize center success, as measured by
financial sustainability, agreed/established program outcomes measures, and mission alliance. 

Requirements: College degree in business or related field, Master’s Degree in business related field is preferred. At least 3 years of general business and operations management experience, with responsibility for profit/loss, financial and human capital in the service sector, preferably in the area of wellness and fitness center management. Ability to complete work in compliance with Salvation Army policy and procedures. Previous experience in working in a not-for-profit environment desirable. Willingness to learn and understand business/management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, principles and processes related to exemplary customer service; must be willing to engage in complex problem solving. Possess the ability to manage multiple projects through to completion.  Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with consistent emphasis on communicating with both internal and external customers in a professional, positive, and service-focused manner. Possess general knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and Human Resource Information Systems.  Possess general knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, and sales control systems. Be willing and able to monitor and assess performance of oneself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements and/or take corrective action. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Play Care Associate

Schedule: Part Time – under 20 hours per week - Must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings as may be required in performance of duties or as requested to support the ongoing operations of the Kroc Center.

Position Description: The Play Care Associate provides safe, fun, and secure care to children of Kroc Center members and guests. Each Associate will provide age-appropriate activities and experiences for those assigned to his/her care. The use of superior customer service in providing such care to each child is required. Must be able to be flexible in support of the Kroc Center team in all areas of center operation, as needed and assigned.

Requirements: High school diploma or GED, or enrolled in a program designed to result in such achievement required. Education or experience in a child care or related setting preferred. Current CPR/AED required. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English; proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Must have ability to work and relate well with people. Must have an appreciation for and be able to embrace the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Recreation Assistant

Schedule: Part Time Plus (up to 29 hours weekly) - varying hours based on scheduled events, evenings and weekends required

Position Description: The Recreation Assistant II will help develop and implement traditional and non-traditional recreational activities, giving direct supervision to same as assigned in the gymnasium, and throughout the RJCCC campus. The RA II will also assist with the coordination of recreational activities for the afterschool program, day camp, Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC), and the Sunoco Foundation Learning Center (SLFC).

Requirements: Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Recreation, Sports Management or related health/fitness field. Prior work experience or successfully completed internship in field of study preferred. Detail oriented. Ability to work with a diverse population, including various age ranges. Must be safety conscious. Must possess ability to provide excellent customer service. Must possess excellent program development skills. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English. Must be able to handle difficult situations/confrontations in a professional manner. Must possess a valid Driver’s License with two or less violations (moving or accident) over the past two years. Must possess the ability to pass the online Salvation Army Fleet Safety Driver’s Test. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
