Our programs are made possible because of generous donors that give back to their communities in a variety of ways.

The Salvation Army is on the frontline of the war against poverty every day. It is donors, volunteers, board members and partners, who make the work possible. You are the people who bring hope to every meal served, every coat given, and every prayer offered.

Your Time

Your time makes a difference for families in need! We have many year-round and seasonal volunteer opportunities available at The Salvation Army. Please click here to learn more about volunteering.

Food & Clothing Donations

Food and clothing donations are needed year round at our Lexington, Georgetown and Nicholasville locations.

Food items frequently needed include:

Canned meats (tuna, chicken)
Beef stew and soups
Pasta and spaghetti sauce
Breakfast cereals
Peanut Butter
Canned green vegetables
Canned fruits and juices

Other Items Needed:

Clothing for adults and children
Shoes
Diapers (all sizes)

All items should be gently used and in good condition.

Planned Giving

If you are considering including The Salvation Army as a beneficiary of your will or estate it is important to note that there is no such organization legally recognized as "The Salvation Army of Central Kentucky". The Army operates in our region as a New York organization. An estate gift not made according to specific criteria will be allocated throughout the eastern United States according to the laws of New York as well as the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).

Gifting Stocks & Securities

Stocks or Bonds

Giving stocks or bonds to The Salvation Army in Central Kentucky may provide you with powerful tax benefits. If you have owned securities for more than one year and the fair market value has increased since you purchased them, you can avoid capital gains tax and receive a charitable gift income tax deduction equal to the fair market value.

Real Estate

A gift of real estate that has been held for more than a year also has the advantage of providing you with a charitable deduction based on the current fair market value, as well as bypassing capital gains tax on the appreciation.
