Preparing children for success
The effects of the pandemic linger on for everyone, but children were particularly affected by the isolation and lack of time with friends and peers. As the new school year begins, you can help us ensure that all students get the education and resources they need to succeed.
In addition to school supplies, your support also gives access to after-school programs that build character, provide mentorship, and empower children all year long.
Children like Dwhite, who attends the Brooklyn Bedford Community Center's afterschool program.
Dwhite enjoys the lesson plans, games, and sense of community he has access to here. He also joined the dance group, which has boosted his self-esteem and helped him develop a skill he is deeply passionate about.
"When I came here, I was shy," Dwhite remembers. "But the staff members made me instantly feel like I belong here. I'm trying to take my talent of dancing and make it big. I intensify it so I can not only have the chance to be a dancer, but have a future."
Today, Dwhite is leading the very dance classes that helped him first break out of his shell and find belonging with his peers.
Thank you for making sure children in New York like Dwhite have the tools they need to have a successful life.
